How pharmacies can help you

Pharmacy teams across England are available to provide you with advice on conditions such as aches, pains, coughs, colds, sore throats and ear infections.

They can also give you advice on how to use your medicines and can talk to you about any worries you have about side effects or answer any other questions you may have about your medicines.

You can choose a pharmacy using the Find a Pharmacy tool on the NHS website.

Pharmacy teams are also able to offer a range of NHS services. Click on the links below to find out about some of these NHS services.

Your choice of pharmacy

You have the right to choose to use any pharmacy to receive NHS services and collect medicines that have been prescribed for you, and you’re free to switch to use another pharmacy at any time.

You can choose a pharmacy using the Find a Pharmacy tool on the NHS website.

If you want, you can also choose (nominate) a pharmacy to supply all your NHS prescriptions.

Your choice of a pharmacy should not be influenced or limited by websites or apps, emails or letters you receive in the post, or by any doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional.

If you have a concern about using your right to choose a pharmacy, you can contact your local NHS management organisation (which is called the integrated care board) for help with this.
